Course Description: This course will enable you to understand the role of epidemiology and economics in the design and delivery of effective veterinary services aimed at improved animal health and productivity. Subject areas covered include: introduction to statistics; introduction to veterinary epidemiology - basic principles, descriptive epidemiology, study design, sampling, quantitative aspects of diagnostic testing; animal health economics - principles, partial budgets, decision tree analysis, cost-benefit ratio, economics and project planning.
Assessment: Exam 80% - 1 Written Assignment 20%
Course Credit: All RVC 240-hr Short Courses offer transfer of credit to RVC Certificate, Diploma or Masters-level programmes within 4 years of completion
Course Study Hours/Duration: 240 hrs over 35 weeks
Schedule of Availability: The study preriod is between Feb - Oct. For enrolment, all RVC short courses are available throughout the year on a rolling enrolment basis. However, 240-hr courses (taken from the Masters programmes) have exams to be taken in Oct each year
