Course Description: This course is designed to teach both the theoretical and practical information required for the management of a major infectious disease outbreak of farm animals. Topics will include epidemiology of infectious viral diseases, risk and cost-benefit analysis, surveillance, diagnosis and vaccination strategies before and during an outbreak, contingency planning and case studies to illustrate how disease outbreaks could be better managed.
Assessment: Exam 80% - 1 Written Assignment 20%
Course Credit: All RVC 240-hr Short Courses offer transfer of credit to RVC Certificate, Diploma or Masters-level programmes within 4 years of completion
Course Study Hours/Duration: 240 hrs over 35 weeks
Schedule of Availability: The study period is between Feb - Oct. For enrolment, all RVC short courses are available throughout the year on a rolling enrolment basis. However, 240-hr courses (taken from the Masters programmes) have exams to be taken in Oct each year
