Course Description: This course builds on the 'Health promotion theory' core module, and covers many different techniques available to people engaged in health promotion practice. These include individual approaches; group and community approaches and population and structural approaches. The course will consider topics such motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, peer education, public education, health promoting environments, advocacy, partnerships and multi-sectoral working and policy and legislation. It will explore the strengths and weaknesses of these various techniques and the contexts in which they might be used.
Assessment: Exam 70% - Written Assignment(s) 30%
Course Credit: All LSHTM Short Courses offer transfer of credit to LSTHM Certificate, Diploma or Masters-level programmes within 4 years of completion
Course Study Hours/Duration: 100 hrs over 35 weeks
