Education
Education is a key area for development practitioners, and we acknowledge this with the inclusion of a number of courses from the Institute of Education.
Reflecting our interest in generating inter-disciplinary knowledge, we have chosen to place a particular emphasis on development education, and on leadership and management within an educational context.
For those involved in the delivery of education programmes, there are courses looking at the planning and management of education in a development context. These focus on the managerial and leadership skills associated with the effective implementation of educational systems, including school management, and financial and economic management.
Our development education courses are designed to look at ways in which raising society’s awareness of development issues operates. In particular, you will have the opportunity to analyse the presentation of developmental issues in the era of globalisation, and the mechanisms by which education on development takes place between partners in the South and North. You will be introduced to the principles and practices of development education, and how to approach the raising of awareness of development issues. These courses are particularly relevant to those working for international NGOs, donor agencies and funding bodies.
As with other DL4D courses, each of the educational courses can be taken individually. They may also contribute towards the completion of a post-graduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters’-level qualification from the relevant institution. Contact the Course Director of the courses you are interested in for further information.
