The DL4D Courses in Food Production & Security are of particular relevance both to policy-makers and to agricultural practitioners. With courses ranging in length from 50- to- 240 hrs, they are appropriate for those wishing to enhance their skills in a specific area.
The courses cover development-related topics such as the economics of agriculture and livestock, agricultural trade policy, and the development of small agribusinesses. There is a particular emphasis on the cross-over between livestock and public health, with courses covering the identification and control of animal diseases. The courses also provide practical introductions to the tools and techniques for research into agriculture and livestock.
Each of the Courses can be taken individually, although in the case of the advanced livestock courses some prior veterinary knowledge may be required. Each of these courses may also contribute towards the completion of a post-graduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters'-level qualification from the relevant institution.
