Rural Development

There is clearly an interrelationship between rural development and development sectors such as food production and security. In keeping with this, there is also a close relationship between the DL4D courses available in these two subject areas.

However, our Rural Development courses particularly focus on the circumstances commonly found in rural communities in developing countries. As such, there are courses on economics and poverty in rural communities, and on the impact that factors as food security can have on the livelihoods of rural developing communities. For practitioners, there are also courses on the planning and management of rural development projects.

As with other courses, each of these courses can be taken individually. They may also contribute towards the completion of a post-graduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters’-level qualification from the relevant institution. Contact the Course Director of the courses you are interested in for further information.
